Preventing Data Breaches

Preventing Data Breaches

No matter what size company you have, it’s important to do what you can to ensure that your security measures are adequate for preventing data breaches. Just like large corporations, smaller businesses are also at risk and there are some things that need to be taken into consideration.

Commonplace Business Equipment Is a Potential Breach

Many companies don’t realize that the simple equipment they use every day, such as printers, may be putting them at risk. Not only can these printers be hacked if not properly protected, unsecured printers allow for sensitive information to be left lying around as print-outs are left uncollected.

The Greatest Threat Is In-House Negligence

When people think about their data security, they are likely to first think about hackers purposefully trying to get sensitive information. In reality, however, the biggest threat are employees not being mindful. Among the measures that can help are:

  • Built in security checks, such as requiring passwords in order to print
  • Making mobile printing easier
  • Storing documents, once printed, in a secure fashion
  • Implementing improved secure ways of sharing documents digitally

These are just some of the ways that document security can be at risk, as well as some of the ways that you can prevent breaches. The way you manage your documents, especially with regard to printing, can go a long way to keeping sensitive data secure.

Our team would like to thank SVOE for the great service you have provided since we received our new printer/scanner/copier. You suggested the right printer to suit our needs and budget.
